Motability £100 Cashback

New Product payment introduced for Motability Scheme customers

With rising energy and fuel prices and other everyday living costs increasing, Motability have introduced a £100 ‘New Product Payment’.  They hope that giving customers this amount back will help them.

Who is eligible for these payments?

Customers newly joining the Scheme during 2022 will receive the ‘New Product Payment’ when they take delivery of their new scooter and powered wheelchair. This means if you take delivery of your first product in 2022, or place an order during 2022, you will be eligible.

Anyone who is already a customer as of 31 December 2021 will become eligible for the payment when they take delivery of their next vehicle, whenever that may be.

When will I receive my payment?

You will receive this payment shortly after you take delivery of your new scooter or powered wheelchair.

The payment is only available once per customer and the quickest way to receive it is by bank transfer.

You can select bank transfer as your preferred payment method in your Motability Scheme online account. Payment by bank transfer will be made within a few days of taking delivery of your new vehicle or product. The alternative option is by cheque, but this could take a couple of weeks to arrive.

To help you understand a little more about these new payments, Motability have answered a few common questions below:

I placed my order in 2021 but I’m still waiting to take delivery, will I receive this payment?

Yes, if you placed an order last year and are still waiting for this to be delivered, you will be eligible for this payment. The payment will be made within a few days of you taking delivery of your new vehicle or product.

I took delivery of my vehicle earlier in January, will I receive this payment?

Yes. We will soon be starting to make this payment to customers who have already taken delivery of a scooter or powered wheelchair this year. If you have a Motability Scheme online account and have updated your payment preference to bank transfer we will make this payment to you by 4 February 2022, but please note it can take up to five days for the payment to arrive in your bank account. After this date we will send cheques to the remaining customers which will take around two weeks to arrive. From 1 February, customers will start to automatically receive this payment when handover of the vehicle or product takes place.

I’m looking to join the Scheme, but I am not quite ready to place an order. When I am ready, what will happen if my vehicle doesn’t arrive until 2023?

There’s no rush to place an order, we recommend taking your time and looking at all options that are available that might be best suited to your needs. For some customers this can take several months. As long as you place your first order before the end of 2022 you will still be eligible for this payment, even if you don’t take delivery until 2023.

I took delivery of my new vehicle just before the end of 2021, can I get this payment now?

If you had already taken delivery of your scooter or powered wheelchair before the end of 2021, you will not receive this payment until you come to collect your next scooter or powered wheelchair at the end of your current lease. However, even if you do not collect your next scooter or powered wheelchair for a number of years you will still qualify for this payment, providing you were a customer on the Scheme as of 31 December 2021.

I want to receive my payment by bank transfer – what do I need to do?

To receive your payment by bank transfer, please make sure you’ve updated your payment preference in your Motability Scheme online account.

Log in or create an account then go to the ‘Personal details’ section to enter your bank details and choose payments by bank transfer. Motability then make this payment, and other payments you are entitled to during your lease, by bank transfer rather than cheque.
