The ZIPPIE Youngster 3 is a lightweight folding wheelchair for active children, with growth built into the frame so it fits for longer without constant new parts.

From around 8.5 kg, it's easy for a child to push and for parents to lift. It's steady at the front, the brake is built into the side guard so your child doesn't need to lean forward to use it, and it's crash tested for use as a seat in an adapted vehicle.

✅ Key Features & Benefits

Growth without new parts
The patented cross-brace adds 2 cm of seat width and the seat tubes add 4 cm of depth — fewer trips back for refits.

Folds for the car
A light folding frame from 8.5 kg that's easy for parents and carers to load.

Safari brake in the side guard
Your child can brake without leaning forward, which helps if trunk control is limited.

Stable at the front
Good front stability gives children confidence as they learn to push and turn.

Light, nimble castor fork
Makes the chair easier to steer around classrooms, shops and home.

Crash tested
Tested to ISO 7176-19 for use as a seat in a suitably adapted vehicle.

Colours available

A choice of 22 frame colours, so your child can choose a look they love. As a folding chair it flexes a little more than a rigid one, so a very active child who rarely needs to fold the chair may prefer a rigid children's wheelchair. Children needing tilt or more postural support may need a different style of chair. We'll measure your child, ideally with their therapist, and it's built to order.

Questions customers ask us

How does it grow with my child?
Seat width grows by 2 cm through the cross-brace and seat depth by 4 cm through the seat tubes, without new parts.
