Reliable pressure relief for people who sit in their wheelchair every day
When you spend several hours a day in your wheelchair, pressure and rubbing on the skin can start to build up. The JAY Easy Fluid from Sunrise Medical is designed for people at moderate risk of skin breakdown, combining a shaped foam base with a fluid pad right where you need it most.
The fluid moves to cushion the bony areas you sit on, while the contoured foam keeps your hips and thighs well placed. The result is a cushion that helps you sit comfortably and steadily for longer.
✅ Key Features & Benefits
JAY Flow fluid pad
Helps relieve pressure and reduce rubbing (shear) under the bones you sit on — important if you're at moderate risk of pressure sores.Contoured thigh support
Built-in shaping either side of the thighs helps keep your legs in line and your seating position steady.Lightweight precontoured foam base
Shaped to guide you into a good sitting position, with notches that sit neatly around the wheelchair frame.Curved or flat base
Choose a curved base for a fabric sling seat, or a flat base for a solid seat pan, so the cushion sits level in your chair.Choice of covers
Pick a breathable microclimatic cover to help with heat and sweat, or an incontinence cover for extra protection.Supports up to 150 kg (23.6 st)
Suitable for a wide range of users.Wide size range
Widths and depths from 25 cm to 60 cm, so it can match most wheelchair seats.
Who it suits best
- People at moderate risk of skin breakdown and shear
- Users with a symmetrical or mildly uneven sitting posture
- Daily wheelchair users who can shift their weight themselves
Worth knowing before you buy
The Easy Fluid is designed for moderate risk. If you've had pressure sores before, can't shift your weight, or have a markedly uneven posture, a high-risk cushion with deeper contouring is the safer choice. If your skin risk is low, a simpler foam or visco cushion may be all you need.
Questions customers ask us
How thick is it?
About 6.3 cm, so it raises you a little — worth bearing in mind for table heights and transfers.
Which base do I need?
Curved for a fabric sling seat, flat for a solid seat. We'll check your wheelchair and help you choose.

More questions about wheelchair cushions
Why do I need a specialist wheelchair cushion?
A standard cushion soon flattens. A specialist cushion spreads your weight, helps protect your skin and supports a better sitting posture, which matters if you sit for long periods.
Which type of cushion is right for me?
Foam cushions are simple and stable, gel and contoured cushions add positioning support, and air cushions give the highest level of pressure relief. The right one depends on your skin, posture and how long you sit.
What size cushion do I need?
Match the cushion to the seat width and depth of your wheelchair. Measure the seat itself, not the old cushion, and ask us if you're between sizes.
Can you help me choose?
Yes. Call 01789 339 738 and tell us about your chair and your needs, or book a free home assessment if you're also looking at a wheelchair.
Can I get VAT relief on a cushion?
If you have a long-term illness or disability and it's for your own personal use, you may be able to buy qualifying products without paying VAT. Just ask us and we'll help you with the simple declaration.
