Specifications
Beach, forest or gravel track — go where the path runs out
Most wheelchairs stop where the tarmac does. Sand, gravel, muddy woodland and grassy slopes are hard enough for a pushchair, let alone a manual wheelchair. The Rehasense PAWS Tourer 20" attaches to the front of your own chair and gives it a powerful motor and a big 20-inch fat tyre, built for exactly that kind of ground.
It's the most adventurous model in the PAWS range. Whether it's a coastal path, a camping trip or a family walk in the hills, it opens up places you may have written off — and it comes off again when you're home.

Who it suits best
- Adventurous manual wheelchair users
- People who love the coast, countryside or camping
- Anyone whose current chair stops them joining family walks
Worth knowing before you buy
The Tourer is the biggest PAWS unit, so it takes up more space in the car than the City or Cruiser. It's steered by handlebars, so good hand and arm function is needed. If you'll mostly be on pavements and in town, a smaller PAWS model will be easier to live with day to day.
Questions customers ask us
Will it work on the beach?
The 20-inch fat tyre is designed for sand, gravel and trails, so it's far better suited to soft ground than a standard wheelchair front castor.
Can I try it first?
Yes. We don't keep every model in stock, so please call first and we'll check — if it isn't here, we can usually arrange a demo model. We'll also check your wheelchair is compatible.

More questions about power add-ons
What is a power add-on?
It's a motor that fits to your manual wheelchair to give you power when you want it. Options include push-assist wheels, rear drive units and front attachments that turn your chair into a power trike.
Will it fit my wheelchair?
Most fit a wide range of manual wheelchairs, but it depends on your frame. Tell us the make and model of your chair on 01789 339 738 and we'll check, or book a free home assessment.
Power add-on or electric wheelchair: which is better?
A power add-on lets you keep the chair you know and is lighter to take in the car. If you can't push yourself at all or need powered support all day, an electric wheelchair is usually the better choice.
How far will it go on a charge?
Range varies from model to model and depends on hills, your weight and the ground, so check the figure on each product page and ask us about your usual routes.
Can I get VAT relief?
If you have a long-term illness or disability and it's for your own personal use, you may be able to buy qualifying products without paying VAT. Just ask us and we'll help you with the simple declaration.
