Specifications
A folding chair that feels firm under every push
If you push yourself all day, your chair matters. Many folding chairs feel loose and soak up the effort of each stroke. The Ki Mobility Catalyst 5 is a made-to-measure folding wheelchair designed to stay solid on the move and still close down for travel.
Its 7000-series aluminium frame is braced by two interlocking cross braces, lifts at around 5.8 kg with the wheels off, and carries up to 21 stone (136 kg) as standard.
✅ Key Features & Benefits
Firm, responsive folding frame
Twin cross braces cut the wobble, so more of each push moves you forward — kinder to your shoulders on a long day.Around 5.8 kg to lift
With wheels and footrests off, many people can load it into the car on their own.Strong as standard
136 kg (21 st), with a heavy-duty option to 159 kg (25 st) for heavier users.Balance set just for you
We can fine-tune seat height and the balance point so the chair feels easy to push but still steady.Transit approved
With Ki's transit system it can be used as a seat in a suitably adapted vehicle, such as an accessible taxi.Swing-away or fixed front
Swing-away footrests move aside for easier transfers, or choose a neater fixed front.Ready for power assist
Works with the Klaxon Twist, should hills or longer distances get harder in future.
Colours available
Over 40 frame finishes — gloss, matte and anodised colours plus patterns such as camo and carbon-fibre effects. We'll show you the full chart when we measure up.
Who it suits best
- Full-time self-propellers who need a folding chair
- People who lift their own chair into the car
- Users up to 21 stone, or 25 stone with the heavy-duty option
- Anyone who may want to add power assist later
Worth knowing before you buy
The Catalyst 5 is made to measure, so it needs an assessment and time to build. The price shown is for the standard set-up; options such as a titanium frame or heavy-duty rating are quoted separately. If you never need to fold your chair, a rigid active wheelchair gives a more efficient push. If you need tilt or lots of postural support, start with a tilt-in-space chair.
Questions customers ask us
Will it fit in my car?
It folds side to side and the wheels come off, leaving a frame of around 5.8 kg. We'll check it against your boot at your assessment.
Can I try one before I buy?
Yes. We don't keep every model in stock, so please give us a call first and we'll check whether there's one in the showroom — if not, we can usually arrange a demo model for you. You can also book a free home assessment.
