One electric motor tilts the whole seat back smoothly, so changing position is easy for the user or for a carer, without any heavy lifting.

It has the same supportive features as Repose's healthcare chairs: back and seat cushions you can choose and swap, a seat depth that adjusts, and a seat and leg rest padded with memory foam. Four heavy-duty lockable castors and a strong push handle make moving between rooms straightforward.

Worth knowing before you buy

The Brooklyn has a single motor, so the tilt is its only powered movement — the back and leg rest don't move separately. If you need independent back recline and leg elevation, look at a multi-function porter chair. It doesn't rise to help the user stand, so for someone who can still get up with a little help, a riser recliner may be better. An optional rechargeable battery is available so it can be used away from a socket.

Who controls the tilt — the user or the carer?
Either. The handset is simple enough for the user, and it hooks onto the push handle for the carer.

Does it need to be plugged in?
As standard it runs from the mains, but a rechargeable battery system is available as an option for use without a socket.
