Change position whenever you need to — and stay comfortable all day
When you live with complex needs and spend most of the day in your wheelchair, comfort isn't a luxury. Being able to tilt back, recline and shift your weight yourself can make the difference between a good day and a painful one. The Invacare TDX SP2 Ultra Low Maxx combines Invacare's powered Ultra Low Maxx seating with the agile TDX SP2 mid-wheel drive base.
It's an electric wheelchair (also known as a powerchair) that turns neatly at home, rides steadily outside, and lets you move into the position that suits you at the touch of a control.
✅ Key Features & Benefits
Powered tilt from 0 to 50°
Tilting moves your weight off your bottom and onto your back, which can help with pressure care and resting — and you can do it yourself, without waiting for a carer.Powered recline from 90 to 170°
Lie right back to rest or stretch out, with a design that helps reduce the skin-dragging that can happen when a backrest reclines.Ultra Low Maxx seating built for complex postural needs
Seat widths from 405 to 610 mm, with depth, back and supports set up to give you proper, all-day support.Low seat-to-ground height of 420–480 mm
Sit closer to table height and at a natural level with the people around you.Mid-wheel drive for tight turning
The chair pivots under you, so getting around smaller rooms and busy places is far easier.SureStep suspension and Stability Lock
Keeps all six wheels on the ground over kerbs and uneven paths, for a steady, secure ride.LiNX with G-Trac and REM400 touchscreen
G-Trac helps keep the chair driving straight on sloping pavements, and the 3.5" touchscreen with Bluetooth can connect to up to three devices.Crash tested, with LED lighting
Travel seated in a suitably adapted vehicle, and be seen in low light.
Who it suits best
- You spend most of the day in your chair and need regular position changes
- You have complex postural or pressure-care needs
- You want to tilt and recline independently
- Users up to 136 kg (21.4 stone)
Worth knowing before you buy
This is a highly specialised electric wheelchair, so it must be set up after a full seating assessment — ideally with your occupational therapist or clinician involved. It's large and heavy and doesn't fold. If you don't need powered tilt and recline, a standard TDX SP2 or a simpler electric wheelchair will be easier to live with and cost far less.
Questions customers ask us
Do I need an assessment first?
Yes. We'll arrange an assessment and demonstration so the seating and powered functions are set up for your body and needs.
What does tilt-in-space mean?
The whole seat tips back while your hip and knee angles stay the same, moving pressure off your bottom without you sliding forward.
