The Drive DeVilbiss AeroCarbon is built around a carbon fibre frame, so with the battery, armrests and cushions taken off it comes down to about 13 kg. That's a scooter many couples can lift into a boot between them without a struggle.

It folds in one movement, the lithium battery is the type airlines generally accept, and at 96 cm long it's short enough for many buses and trains. If you want a scooter that fits round your plans rather than the other way round, this is one of the lightest ways to do it.

Worth knowing before you buy

The AeroCarbon is made for lightness, not long distances or rough ground. Its range is around 9 miles, it has small solid wheels and a 4 mph top speed, so it's happiest on smooth pavements and indoors. It also needs a wide space to turn — about 2.4 metres — so tight hallways can be awkward. If you want more range and comfort for daily local trips, a larger pavement scooter will serve you better; if weight is all that matters, this is hard to beat.

Can I take it on a plane?
The lithium battery is designed to be airline friendly, and most airlines accept this type. Rules vary, so always check with your airline before you travel.

How heavy is the part I actually lift?
About 13.8 kg with the battery removed, or about 13 kg if you also take off the armrests and cushions. The battery adds roughly 1.7 kg.

Can I see how light it is before I decide?
Yes. We don't keep every model in stock, so ring us first and we'll check whether one is in the showroom — if not, we can usually arrange a demo model. We also offer a free home assessment.
