For an active child, a heavy chair holds them back. The ZIPPIE Simba is a lightweight rigid wheelchair from Sunrise Medical's children's range, made so small arms can push further and keep up in the playground, at school and on days out.

It's built with growing in mind. The seat can be widened and lengthened as your child grows, and the push bar adjusts in height and angle so parents and carers can help comfortably when needed. It's crash tested, too, for use as a seat in a suitably adapted vehicle.

Worth knowing before you buy

The Simba is for children up to 65 kg (10 st 3 lb) and does not offer tilt-in-space, so children who need more postural support may be better in a tilt-in-space or supportive seating chair. Being rigid, it doesn't fold side to side — the wheels come off and the back folds down. We'll measure your child, ideally with their therapist, and the chair takes a few weeks to build.

The seat width and depth have built-in growth, and more growth is possible with new parts, so it can adapt over several years.
