Specifications
No more lifting the wheelchair over the front-door weather bar
Many front and back doors have a raised weather bar or doorstep of around 5 cm. If you push someone in a wheelchair, you know the routine: tip back, bump, and hope nobody's tea goes flying. If you walk with a stick or frame, that lip is where toes catch. The Enable Access Doorline Threshold Wedge in the 5 cm size replaces the bump with a short, firm slope.
It is 27 cm deep, weighs 2.3 kg and is designed to be left in place, so it quietly does its job every day without being noticed.
✅ Key Features & Benefits
Takes the jolt out for carers
Wheel straight over a 5 cm lip instead of tipping the chair back, which is easier on your back and much more comfortable for the person sitting in it.Fewer catches and trips
A gentle edge instead of an upstand helps if you shuffle, use a stick, or have a frame with small front wheels.Compact 27 cm depth
Sits neatly on most doorsteps without sticking out into the path.Light at 2.3 kg
Simple to lift for cleaning or to move from one door to another.Designed to stay in place
Leave it down permanently, so access is always there for you, visitors and carers.Rated to 350 kg (55 st)
Copes happily with electric wheelchairs and scooters as well as manual chairs.Easy to keep hygienic
Can be fully sanitised and pressure-washed with heat.
Who it suits best
- Carers pushing a wheelchair through a door with a raised weather bar
- People who walk with a stick or frame and catch their feet on the lip
- Homes, surgeries and care homes with a low threshold
Worth knowing before you buy
Check the lip really is about 5 cm. Below that, the 4 cm wedge will sit flatter, and above it the 7.5 cm size is the better fit. If your threshold height is in between sizes, an adjustable wedge can be set to match. A wedge covers one lip or step — for a run of steps you will need a longer ramp.
Questions customers ask us
Will it stop me tripping on the doorstep?
It removes the upstand edge that toes tend to catch, which many people find makes stepping out feel steadier.

More questions about ramps
How long a ramp do I need?
The longer the ramp, the gentler the slope. Measure the height of the step and call us on 01789 339 738, and we'll help you work out the right length for a wheelchair, scooter or helper.
Portable or threshold ramp?
A threshold ramp sits at a doorway to smooth out a small lip. A portable ramp folds or comes apart so you can take it with you for steps and vehicles.
How much weight will a ramp take?
Check the safe working load on the product page. It needs to cover the combined weight of the person, the wheelchair or scooter and anyone helping.
Can I use a ramp to load my car?
Some ramps are designed for vehicles. Check the product page, and tell us your vehicle so we can suggest the right one.
Can I get VAT relief?
If you have a long-term illness or disability and it's for your own personal use, you may be able to buy qualifying products without paying VAT. Just ask us and we'll help you with the simple declaration.
Still got a question? Call us on 01789 339 738 and we'll be happy to help.
