An adjustable ramp for back and patio door sills

Back doors and patio doors often have a sill somewhere between 3.5 and 5.5 cm, and rarely an exact standard size. Lay a fixed wedge against it and you can be left with a small ledge that still catches wheels. The Enable Access Doorline Variwedge Medium adjusts in 5 mm steps across that whole range, so it meets your sill flush.

It is 25 cm deep and weighs 2.5 kg. If you later change the floor covering or fit a new door, you can simply reset the height rather than buying another ramp.

Worth knowing before you buy

It only covers rises from 3.5 to 5.5 cm. For an internal sill under 3 cm, the Small Variwedge is neater, and for 6 cm or more you'll want the Large. Like any short wedge, the slope is fairly firm, so some self-propelling wheelchair users prefer a helper. If you need a ramp to carry in the car, look at a folding portable ramp instead.
