The Drive DeVilbiss Air Active splits into four light pieces with no tools, so it can live in the car and be ready whenever you are — at the supermarket, the garden centre or a day out with the grandchildren.

It uses a lithium battery rather than a heavy lead-acid one, which keeps the whole scooter to 26 kg and the heaviest piece under 15 kg. You still get a comfy padded seat, lights front and back and a range of up to 10.8 miles.

Worth knowing before you buy

The Air Active has no suspension and fairly small solid wheels, so grass, gravel and broken paths will feel bumpy. It takes apart rather than folds, so you'll be lifting four pieces instead of one — light pieces, but you do need to bend into the boot. If you'd rather not lift at all, look at an auto-folding scooter with a boot hoist; if you want a softer ride for daily outings, a pavement scooter with suspension is the better fit.

Will it fit in my car?
Taken apart, the base measures 103 × 51 × 39 cm and the other pieces are smaller. Bring your boot measurements and we'll check it fits with you.

Do I need tools to take it apart?
No. The four pieces come apart and go back together by hand.

Can I try taking it apart myself first?
Of course. We don't always have every model in stock, so please call before you visit and we'll check — if it's not here we can usually arrange a demo model, or book a free home assessment.
