The crisp, responsive feel of a rigid chair — with a frame that folds small for travel

Many active wheelchair users face the same choice: a rigid chair that pushes beautifully but won't fold, or a folding chair that's handy in the car but feels sluggish. The Küschall Champion 2.0 is designed to give you both. Its hydroformed aluminium frame rides like a rigid chair, yet it folds down to around 28–34 cm wide to slip into a car boot, a taxi or a holiday luggage hold.

It's built to your measurements and set up around your body, with a long list of colours and options, so it feels like your chair from the first push.

✅ Key Features & Benefits

  • Rigid-style ride in a fully folding chair
Your pushes go into moving forward, not into a wobbly frame — easier on your shoulders on long days — yet it still folds when you need it to.

  • Folds to about 28–34 cm wide, with a 6.7 kg heaviest part
Pop the quick-release wheels off and the frame is light and slim enough to lift into a small car or store in a cupboard.

  • Built to your size
Seat widths from 36 to 48 cm and depths from 34 to 48 cm, plus adjustable seat heights and knee-to-heel length, so you sit well supported with good posture.

  • 9 centre-of-gravity positions
Set the balance for stability while you're learning, or for quick, nimble handling as your confidence grows.

  • Soft-lock folding backrest
Folds down smoothly for transport and locks firmly in place, with five backrest angles to choose from.

  • Flip-up clothes guards
Keep your clothes clean and away from the wheels, then flip up out of the way when you transfer sideways.

  • SK, SL and Carbon versions
Choose the SK with a fully folding front for the most compact fold, the SL for lower weight and extra stiffness, or the Carbon frame — we'll help you decide.

  • 13 standard frame colours
From Space Black to Flashy Yellow, with custom colours on request, so your chair suits your style.

Colours available

Space Black, Anthracite Grey, Pure White, Carmine Red, Azure Blue, Flashy Yellow, Atomic Violet, Black Glossy, Silver Grey, Royal Blue, Ruby Red, Dynamite Orange and Forest Green. Custom RAL colours are available on request.

Who it suits best

  • Active, self-propelling users who travel a lot or drive a smaller car
  • You want rigid-chair performance but need it to fold
  • Users up to 120 kg (18.9 stone)

Worth knowing before you buy

The Champion is built to order around you, so it needs measuring and isn't a quick off-the-shelf purchase. It's designed for people with good upper-body control who push themselves; if you'll mainly be pushed by a carer, a lighter transit or standard folding chair will be simpler and better value. If you never need to fold your chair, a fully rigid active chair can be lighter still.

Questions customers ask us

What's the difference between the Champion and the Champion SK?
The SK has a front frame that folds too, making it the most compact chair in the Küschall range — ideal if boot space is really tight.

Can I try one first?
Yes. We don't keep every model in stock, so give us a call first and we'll check — if it isn't in, we can usually arrange a demo model. You can also book a free home assessment.

More questions about active wheelchairs

What is an active wheelchair?

It's a lightweight manual wheelchair set up around your body so it takes less effort to push yourself. It suits people who self-propel every day and want a chair that feels like part of them.

Should I choose a rigid or a folding frame?

A rigid frame is usually lighter and more efficient to push because less energy is lost through the frame. A folding frame folds down, which some people find easier for storage and travel.

How much does an active wheelchair cost?

It depends on the frame material, such as aluminium, titanium or carbon, and the options you choose. Prices are on each product page. If you have a long-term condition, you may be able to buy it VAT-free.

How do I get the right size?

Getting the measurements right makes a big difference to comfort and how easily the chair pushes. Book a free home assessment on 01789 339 738 and we'll measure you and set the chair up for you.

Can I add power to my active wheelchair later?

Often, yes. A power add-on such as a push-assist or front attachment can give you extra help on hills and longer trips while you keep your own chair.
