A folding wheelchair that's easy to live with — and built around you

If you use a wheelchair every day, you want one that's comfortable for hours, simple to fold for the car and adjusted to fit you properly — not a one-size-fits-all chair. The Küschall Compact is a folding active wheelchair made to your measurements, with a clever cross brace that folds easily even if your strength or hand function is limited.

Choose swing-away legrests for easier transfers or a fixed front frame for a lighter, stiffer chair, and pick a frame colour you love. It's a sensible, versatile everyday chair that you, your family or your carer will find easy to handle.

✅ Key Features & Benefits

• Easy-fold cross brace
Designed to fold simply, which makes a real difference if you have reduced strength or limited use of your hands and want to load the chair yourself.

• Made to your measurements
Seat widths and depths from 28 to 50 cm, plus adjustable seat heights and knee-to-heel length, so you sit comfortably with good posture and support all day.

• Swing-away or fixed front frame
Swing-away legrests move aside so you can stand or transfer without obstruction; the fixed front version is lighter, with a transport weight of about 6.7 kg.

• Crash tested to ISO 7176-19
Approved to stay in your wheelchair while travelling in a suitably adapted vehicle, so trips by accessible taxi or minibus are easier.

• Six backrest angles and an optional folding back
Set the back from upright to more reclined for comfort, and choose a back that folds over the seat for a smaller package in the car.

• Adjustable castor housing
Keeps the front wheels set correctly as the chair is adjusted, so it stays easy to push and steer.

• Anti-slip footplates
Your feet stay secure and comfortable, whatever your seat width.

• Choice of frame colours
Five standard colours plus seven extra shades, so your chair looks the way you want it to.

Colours available

Standard: Pure White, Anthracite Grey, Space Black, Carmine Red and Azure Blue. Extra colours (longer delivery): Flashy Yellow, Black Glossy, Silver Grey, Pearl Night Blue, Ruby Red, Dynamite Orange and Forest Green.

Who it suits best

• Everyday wheelchair users who need a chair that folds for the car
• People who self-propel but sometimes need a push
• Anyone travelling seated in an adapted vehicle
• Users up to 130 kg (20.5 stone)

Worth knowing before you buy

The Compact is built to order and needs measuring, so it isn't an instant off-the-shelf chair. At around 9.6–10.3 kg it's heavier than a performance rigid chair, so if you're a very active user wanting the lightest, most responsive ride, a rigid or rigid-style folding active chair may suit you better. If you'll only use a wheelchair occasionally, a lightweight transit chair will be more affordable.

Questions customers ask us

Can I stay in it in a car or minibus?
Yes. The Compact is crash tested to ISO 7176-19 for use as a seat in a suitably adapted vehicle with the correct restraints.

Can I try one first?
Yes. We don't keep every model in stock, so give us a call first and we'll check — if it isn't in, we can usually arrange a demo model. You can also book a free home assessment.
