Taking a scooter in the car often means wrestling with heavy pieces. The Kymco K-Lite Comfort ALi is built on an aluminium frame, so the heaviest piece weighs just 9.9 kg — about the same as a full bag of shopping. The whole scooter, battery included, is only 28.9 kg.

It separates with one hand for the car boot, and its 20Ah lithium battery gives up to 18 miles from a charge. Suspension at both ends means it's comfortable too, so days out with family, garden centres and holidays are back on the cards.

Worth knowing before you buy

The K-Lite Comfort ALi is a Class 2 boot scooter with small 7.5" wheels and a 4 mph top speed. It's at its best on pavements, shop floors and level paths; it handles slopes of up to 8°, but grass, gravel and rough tracks aren't its strength. If you mostly ride locally and don't need to transport it, a larger pavement scooter will give a more cushioned ride for the money.
