If you're a larger rider, it can be hard to find a travel scooter you feel truly confident on. The Motion Healthcare Lithilite Air is built on a steel chassis and carries riders up to 23.5 stone, yet it still comes apart to go in the car.

It's the entry model in the Lithilite family, with a light lithium battery giving up to 10 miles. A rotating padded seat makes getting on and off easier, and the soft tyres and suspension keep the ride comfortable on everyday pavements. A sensible, well-priced choice if you need a little more capacity without moving to a big, heavy scooter.

Worth knowing before you buy

The heaviest piece is 15 kg, so it's heavier to lift than the lightest aluminium travel scooters. With the Air battery the range is up to 10 miles, ground clearance is 5 cm and the climbing limit is 6°, so it's best on smooth pavements and indoors. If you need more miles, look at a larger-battery version; for hills and rough ground, a full-size pavement scooter is a better match.
