The Quantum Fusion E is a rear-wheel drive electric wheelchair, also known as a powerchair, with a modular design that works with Quantum's rehab seating and an optional power tilt.

Big 14-inch drive wheels, rear suspension and good torque help it grip on rougher ground and climb obstacles with less fuss. It takes users up to 23.6 stone (150 kg) and can be set to 4 mph, or 6 mph with the lights package, so it suits both pavement trips and longer outings.

Worth knowing before you buy

The Fusion E weighs 86 kg before its batteries go in, so it does not fold for a car boot. Parts such as the legrests, armrests and batteries come off, but most people transport it in a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Rear-wheel drive chairs need a bit more turning room indoors than mid-wheel drive chairs, so if your home has very tight corners, ask us to compare the two. Seating options change the final price, so an assessment helps.
