Worth knowing before you buy

The Maxima tops out at 6 mph rather than 8 mph, so if you want to keep up with traffic on longer road journeys, a faster road scooter may suit you better. It's a full-size scooter — around 83–89 kg before its batteries — and isn't designed to go in a car boot, so you'll need somewhere level and dry to store and charge it. The solid tyres are puncture-proof but give a firmer ride than air-filled tyres on rough ground.

Three wheels turn more tightly and give more foot room. Four wheels feel steadier, especially on slopes. We're happy to let you try both.

Can I use it on the road?
Yes. It's a road-legal Class 3 scooter, which means registering it with the DVLA — this is free. You can also ride on the pavement at up to 4 mph.

How far will it go?
Pride quote about 19.8 miles for the three-wheel and 19.5 miles for the four-wheel version, depending on rider weight, hills and weather.
