Front-wheel drive pulls the chair up and over obstacles and lets you get close to tables and worktops. Add powered tilt, lift, recline and legrests, and specialist controls if you need them, and the chair can be built around your exact needs.

Worth knowing before you buy

The Q500 F is a large, configurable chair — up to 134 cm long and 64 cm wide — so it doesn't fold and travels in an adapted vehicle rather than a car. Front-wheel drive steers differently from rear-wheel drive and takes a short while to get used to. If you mostly need a tight turn indoors, the mid-wheel drive Q500 M may suit you better. An assessment is the best way to choose.
