Specifications
Fold it, pack it, and go further than you thought you could
If you'd like an electric wheelchair for days out, but a heavy chair that has to be taken to pieces puts you off, the QUICKIE Q50 R is a good middle ground. It's a folding electric wheelchair, also known as a powerchair, that folds down to roughly the size of a suitcase without removing the battery.
Unlike many folding chairs, it doesn't skimp on range. Its large lithium battery gives a theoretical range of up to 50 km (31 miles), and suspension front and back makes the ride more comfortable on everyday pavements.
✅ Key Features & Benefits
Folds with the battery fitted
No parts to take off and nothing to lose. It folds to around suitcase size for the car boot, a cupboard or a corner of the hall.Long range from a lithium battery
The 30Ah battery gives up to 50 km (31 miles) under test conditions, so a full day out doesn't mean range worry.Front and rear suspension
A rubber damper at the front and shock absorbers at the back take the edge off bumps, which is easier on sore backs and joints.Flip-up armrests and swing-out controller
Clear the side of the chair for a sideways transfer to a bed, car seat or sofa.Adjustable sling seat and back
The tension can be adjusted to suit your shape, with a breathable foam cushion to keep you comfortable and cool.Large solid tyres
12" rear and 8" front wheels roll over thresholds and paving cracks more easily than small wheels, and they can't puncture.Charge it folded
Plug in at the controller while the chair is folded and tucked away.Climbs kerbs up to 5 cm
Copes with low kerbs and door thresholds on everyday trips.
Colours available
Green, Blue and Red.
Who it suits best
- You want a folding chair with a long range
- Days out in the car and shopping trips
- You can transfer sideways with flip-up armrests
- Users up to 136 kg (21.4 stone)
Worth knowing before you buy
It folds in one piece, but at 37.5 kg with the battery (32 kg without) it's a two-person lift for most people, or you'll want a car hoist. If someone will be lifting it often, a lighter carbon-framed folding chair may be easier. It isn't crash tested, so you need to transfer to a car seat to travel. It's designed for pavements and indoors rather than grass and rough tracks.
Questions customers ask us
How heavy is it to lift?
37.5 kg with the battery fitted, or 32 kg if you take the 5.5 kg battery out first.
Can I take it on a plane?
Sunrise doesn't list it as airline approved, so please talk to us and your airline before booking. If flying matters to you, we can suggest chairs with airline-approved batteries.
Can I try it first?
Yes — give us a ring before you visit. We don't keep every model in stock, so we'll check, and if there isn't one here we can usually arrange a demo model.
