If you miss walks along canal towpaths, through the park or down a farm track, most scooters won't take you there. The Pride BAJA Bandit is designed for rougher ground, with suspension made for bumpy terrain and chunky 9.4" wheels, yet it's the most compact 8 mph scooter in Pride's travel range.

It's road-legal too, so you can ride into the village at up to 8 mph and then head off the beaten track. Light lithium batteries power it, and you can choose a larger battery if you plan longer adventures.

Worth knowing before you buy

The BAJA Bandit weighs 72.3 kg without its batteries and is used fully assembled, so it isn't a scooter to lift into a car boot; look at folding or boot scooters if you need that. Ground clearance is 4 cm, so take care over deep ruts, tree roots and high kerbs. With the standard battery the range is up to 14.5 miles, so choose the 40Ah if you often go further. As a Class 3 scooter it needs free DVLA registration.

Can I use it on the road and the pavement?
Yes. Ride at up to 4 mph on pavements and up to 8 mph on the road.

Is the bigger battery worth it?
If your trips are mostly local, the 20Ah is plenty. For long rides in the countryside, the 40Ah doubles your range to up to 29 miles.
