The X2 shares its strong frame, suspension and ERGO2 seat with the X1, then adds a light-sensitive digital display and automatic headlights. You always know your speed, distance and battery level, and the lights look after themselves when the sky turns grey.

Worth knowing before you buy

Like the X1, the X2 is a large, heavy scooter — 124 kg without its seat and batteries — so it isn't for car boots and needs proper storage and charging space. It sits at the top end of the price range. If you mostly ride on smooth pavements and roads in town, a mid-range road scooter may be all you need, and if the smart display isn't important to you, the X1 offers the same hardware for less.

Is the X2 any tougher than the X1?
No — the frame, motor and suspension are the same. The difference is the smarter display and automatic headlights.

Can I ride it on the road?
Yes. As a Class 3 scooter it can be used on the road at up to 8 mph and on the pavement at 4 mph. It needs registering with the DVLA, which is free.
