A proper high-back armchair that's easy to get in and out of

Deep, low sofas can be lovely to sink into but hard work to get out of, especially with stiff knees or a sore back. The Cosi Avon is a traditional fireside chair with a supportive sprung seat and solid arms to push up from, so sitting down and standing up feel much more manageable.

It keeps a classic look — a buttoned high back, a light oak frame and soft Kilburn fabric — so it sits happily in any living room without looking like care equipment. Made in Britain, with a matching sofa and footstool available to order.

Who it suits best

• Anyone who finds low sofas hard to get out of
• People who want head and neck support in a traditional chair
• Those who don't need a powered riser but want an easier chair

Worth knowing before you buy

The Avon is a fixed armchair — it doesn't lift, recline or raise your legs. If you need help to stand, or want to put your feet up with the press of a button, a riser recliner chair is the better choice. If you need a higher seat or pressure care, ask us about a high-seat or healthcare chair. It comes with a one-year guarantee.

Questions customers ask us

How high is the seat?
About 49.5 cm from the floor, with a seat roughly 48 cm wide and deep. We can help you check that suits your height.

Can I sit in it before buying?
Yes. We don't keep every chair in stock, so please call first and we'll check — if it's not here, we can usually arrange a demo model.
