Rise & Recline - Active Mobility Ltd

Rise & Recline are a British manufacturer of made-to-measure riser recliner chairs, founded in 2001 and based in Nottingham, about an hour and a quarter from our Stratford-upon-Avon showroom. We've worked with them for years, and their chairs are some of the most adjustable we sell.

What makes Rise & Recline different?

  • Built to order for you. Every frame is cut on their own CNC machine to your sizes. Nothing comes off a warehouse shelf.
  • Handmade in Britain. Every fabric panel is still cut by hand with scissors, and one upholsterer makes your whole chair from start to finish. Read how Rise & Recline make your chair.
  • Quick for a bespoke chair. Usually 15 to 20 working days, in any of their fabrics.
  • Five-year warranty on the frame and mechanism.
  • Used in healthcare. Their chairs are supplied to hospitals and care settings as well as homes.

Six ways to recline

Rise & Recline chairs come with six mechanisms: wall hugger, standard dual motor, single and dual motor tilt-in-space, triple motor and quad motor. Standard chairs take 20 or 25 stone, and their bariatric chairs go up to 35, 40, 50 and 70 stone. See the different riser recliner motors explained.

Made to your measurements

We can change the seat height in one-inch steps, the seat depth, the width (18, 20 or 22 inches, and 24 on the quad motor), the arm height and the back height. The cushions on their most popular backs are fixed with Velcro, so we can fine-tune the fit in your home.

Backs, arms and extras

  • Backs: the Royal waterfall back (three adjustable cushions), the lateral back with side wings, and the thoracic back for higher support.
  • Arms: the traditional scroll arm finished with piping, the wooden knuckle arm you can grip, and a padded soft knuckle arm.
  • Seat: foam as standard, or a softer pocket sprung seat at the same price.
  • Extras: heat, massage, arm caps, a reading light and pressure-relief cushions, including air-flow cushions. The quad motor comes with USB and USB-C sockets.
  • Tech pack: a fitting in the arm that takes a swivel table with a wireless phone charger, USB sockets and a cup holder, plus add-ons such as a reading light, a rechargeable fan and a Bluetooth speaker.

Extras add to the price, so we'll talk you through which ones you'll really use.
