Electric wheelchairs are the most complex equipment we supply. Since January 2025 we've supplied 91 powerchairs. They range from lightweight folding chairs for travel to fully prescriptive chairs with powered tilt, lift and recline.
Powerchairs often have several powered functions and are used all day, every day. 16 of those customers (18%) have reported a fault since, 30 faults in all.

Which chairs have needed us most
We want to be honest about this. The chairs that have needed the most fault call-outs are the larger prescriptive and Motability powerchairs, particularly the Permobil Corpus chairs and the Dietz Sango. The pre-owned Quickie Q300M with powered tilt and lift has also needed us more than the simpler folding chairs.
That isn't a reason to avoid them. These are complex chairs doing a demanding job for people who rely on them completely. The more powered functions a chair has, the more there is to adjust, wear and go wrong, which is exactly why you want a dealer close by who knows the chair.
The lightweight folding chairs tell a different story. The Quickie Q50 R, the Alber Erivo and the Mobility Star haven't needed a single fault call-out between them.
What this tells us
Pre-owned Quickie chairs were our biggest sellers: the Q50 R folding chair and the Q300M. Taking a good pre-owned powerchair and setting it up for a new user is something we do a lot of. For many people it's a sensible alternative to a brand-new prescriptive chair.
If you're thinking about a powerchair, call us on 01789 339738 to arrange an assessment.
How we counted: these figures cover sales from our Stratford-upon-Avon showroom between January 2025 and October 2026. "Faults reported" counts the times a customer called us out, or brought equipment in, because something had gone wrong after they bought from us: a repair, a breakdown, a puncture, a part failing. Routine annual services are not counted, and several visits for the same problem count as one fault. It can include problems with other equipment the customer owns. Models we only sold once with no faults are listed by name below the table.
